SUSTAINABILITYThe quality or state of being able to cause to continue, nourish and endure a balance of available resources and the use of those resources. When this definition is focused on biological resources that humans and other species depend upon, we understand sustainability to mean: The quality or state of being able to provide for the support or maintenance of a recurrent increment of a resource such that the portion removed by one harvest is replaced by growth or reproduction before and after harvest occurs. In other words, don't use up a resource without allowing for the future availability of that resource to be used by the individual and the community.
